A while back we were pretty excited by the paperless business card idea. Along came Contxts which offered a way to exchange contact info with no data entry and no paper. A simple keyword text message sent to a database and your new connection receives your vcard instantly on their mobile device. Pretty smart and essentially universal but for some reason it never caught on. It seems to serve more of a backup function for those times we find ourselves without a card. Just about 36 hours after the big announcement that Southside Oil, parent company of Uppy’s Convenience Stores, purchased 172 stores in Maryland and Northern Virginia, the company swept Richmond off its feet and won the GRCC’s IMPACT Award. We told the Impact Award committee that if they didn’t pick us they should pick our client, Uppy’s. And we’re very happy they did.
